Dr. Doris Andronescu,
CEO and sole owner of SANADOR
Twenty-five years after its beginnings, SANADOR stands as a benchmark for healthcare in Romania — a project that has played a decisive role in transforming the way medical care is conceived, practiced, and perceived. Its impact is defined not only by its scale or infrastructure, but also by a coherent vision developed over time, in which high-performance medicine has been approached as a responsibility toward both patients and society.

For SANADOR, a quarter-century of excellence is not merely a collection of numbers or statistics, however impressive they may be. Millions of patients, millions of consultations, state-of-the-art technologies, and cutting-edge procedures are the visible milestones of a solid foundation. Yet the deeper meaning lies not in the years or the volumes, but in every moment when medicine represented a second chance at life.
“SANADOR was built with patience, hard work, and profound respect for the patient. From the very beginning, we believed that healthcare at international standards was possible in Romania, and we chose to invest continuously so that patients could have access to state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment here at home. These 25 years speak of continuity, of people, and of the responsibility to move forward without compromise,” stated Dr. Doris Andronescu, CEO and sole shareholder of SANADOR.
25 Years of Organic Growth
SANADOR’s evolution has been built step by step, organically, without ever losing sight of its original direction. From its beginnings in a clinic with nine medical offices in Alba Iulia Square, in Bucharest, SANADOR expanded through deliberate decisions and carefully planned investments. Each stage was grounded in the real needs of patients and in the organization’s ability to sustain increasingly complex medical services at the highest standards.
A defining moment was the opening of SANADOR Victoriei Clinic, Romania’s first large multidisciplinary private clinic, which changed the paradigm of outpatient medical services by integrating advanced investigations and specialist consultations under the same roof. This integrated model later became the foundation for the development of SANADOR Clinical Hospital, Romania’s first large-scale multidisciplinary private hospital, with more than 400 beds, designed from day one to provide care for highly complex cases.
Another strategic milestone was the establishment of the first comprehensive cancer center in Romania’s private healthcare sector, at a time when cancer patients were forced to navigate on their own between specialties, investigations, and stages of treatment. Following the same philosophy of ensuring a complete patient journey,
SANADOR also opened the first Emergency Department (ED) within the private healthcare system, providing rapid access to assessment and treatment in critical situations. All these decisions reflected the same philosophy: sustainable growth focused on maintaining the highest standards of care and reinforcing patient trust.
25 Years of Medical Excellence
Over these 25 years, SANADOR has become a benchmark for medical excellence in Romania, where highly complex procedures have been performed, many of them premieres for Romania. The living-donor liver transplant program marked a defining moment, demonstrating that highly complex procedures can be performed safely and with
excellent outcomes within the private healthcare system. In cardiovascular surgery, SANADOR is internationally recognized through its accredited Center of Excellence for minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery, where complex interventions involving the heart and major blood vessels are performed using modern techniques that reduce surgical trauma and accelerate patient recovery. In oncological and urological surgery, including robotic surgery, advanced cases are treated through personalized approaches tailored to each patient. Numerous surgical procedures are performed by multidisciplinary teams, offering patients modern solutions for severe conditions.

Neurosurgery manages highly complex cerebral and spinal pathologies, interventional cardiology treats emergencies and severe cardiovascular diseases, while general surgery, thoracic surgery, orthopedics, endocrine surgery, and many other specialties complete a highly complex surgical spectrum. SANADOR Maternity Hospital, equipped with a high-performance neonatal intensive care unit, provides advanced care for newborns with severe medical conditions, immediately after birth.
All these achievements are supported by the only Category I Anesthesia and Intensive Care Unit within Romania’s private healthcare sector— an essential pillar for the success of complex interventions and the care of critically ill patients.
25 Years of Investment in Advanced Technologies
The courage to invest in technologies that once seemed impossible has been part of SANADOR’s DNA from the very beginning. From Romania’s first 3D ultrasound machine, introduced at a time when such investigations were considered exceptional, to the first fully digitalized operating block and the first mobile hybrid operating room, SANADOR has consistently brought cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment technologies and solutions to Romania.
Advanced robotic surgical systems, high-performance imaging, radiotherapy and molecular diagnostics equipment, as well as innovative investigations enabling personalized treatments — all define a development model based on anticipating the needs of modern medicine and on responsible, patient-oriented investments.

A Lasting Commitment for the Future
Looking ahead, SANADOR continues to grow through the expansion of its medical infrastructure, ongoing investments in state-of-the-art equipment, optimization of medical workflows, and intelligent digitalization of processes, all aimed at strengthening a patient-centered healthcare model.
A quarter of a century ago, many things seemed impossible in Romanian healthcare. Today, we call them normal. It is normal to have access to top physicians. It is normal to benefit from high-performance technology. It is normal to be able to receive quality treatment in Romania. Even after 25 years, SANADOR remains dedicated to care, empathy, and the responsibility of providing patients in Romania with treatment at international standards — here at home.
